Working Parents Need Support

The impact of COVID-19 on the workforce can’t be overstated. Many parents were thrust into the unfortunate position of choosing between their own mental health and family’s wellbeing, and their responsibilities to their jobs and ambitions for their careers.

There’s no one-size-fits-all solution. Depending on family age/stage, job role, company culture and industry, and even societal trends, each parent is trying to navigate all this on his or her own.

Even before the pandemic, half of working parents said they felt they couldn’t give 100% of their focused effort at work due to family obligations. So, even if things returned to the way they were, many working parents wouldn’t be able to thrive. And that doesn’t serve families, or employers.

What Working Parents Are Saying

I learned how to talk (I learned) how to talk to my kids and spouse about mental health issues.
I learned how to make myself a focus while still working on other areas of my life.
I will start sharing with others what can be helpful to me and how I need recognition.

Our Program Supports & Empowers

When working parents are given the time and specific support they need, we see the following benefits:

  • Increase in awareness of family-focused benefits

  • Improved perception of employer as understanding of parents’ work-life challenges

  • Increased employee Net Promoter Score (NPS) for the employer being a great place to work for parents

  • Improved perception of employer as doing enough to address the needs of working parents related to the pandemic and its disruptions

  • New and sustainable relationships among parents regardless of level, role or longevity within the organization

The Final Outcome of Foundations

At the conclusion of the program, each participant creates his or her own Work-Life Blueprint. This is a unique plan for each working parent, based on what we have shared about mental health and self-care, trends in work and parenting, specific challenges with modern kids, the role of partnerships and unpaid labor, and the most effective strategies for today’s workplace.

Each session includes a resource sheet that participants use to create the building blocks of their plan. The tools are intended for use with families and managers so that the final Blueprint is created with all stakeholders included and considered.
